Blacksands Creek

Date: 27 Jan 2014
Weather: Sunny
Crew: Dave
Target Fish: Spiny Back Crays
Bait: Rump Steak
Berley: None
Catch:1 Eel, 1 Spiny Cray
Report: Fun afternoon. Only managed the one cray, and netted an eel out of boredom. Boiled the cray for about 4 minutes  - tasty little bugger! Note for next time, bring some colored ribbon to tie to lines - I had a bastard of a time trying to find them. Also, bring split shot sinkers.

Bitwenjopit Fly Session

Date: 26 Jan 2014
Weather: Sunny
Crew: Dave, Parko
Target Fish: Trout
Bait: - Fly - Hoppers
Berley: None
Catch:2 Rainbows (one the size of my index finger - smallest I've ever seen), 1 Brown
Report: Thanks to Parko for the fly lesson. Such an incredible experience which I suspect will mark the start of the next chapter in my fishing career. The excitement of watching that little fly hopper float downstream and seeing a fish rise up and grab it is unreal. Action was pretty consistent.

Whoray Creek

Date: 19 Jan 2014
Weather: Sunny
Crew: Dave
Target Fish: Trout
Bait: Lures - Spinners 5g Celtas
Berley: None
Catch:Nil
Report: This stretch of water isn't known as being a good trout stream. Its closer to home than the Bitwenjopit, and I've always been keen to give it some attention. I only managed to put in an hour or so with no luck. I did see some fish, and am keen to get back and give it another crack. It is over-grown in parts, which makes for some challenging and fun casting.

Cowabunga Creek

Date: 2 Jan 2014
Weather: Sunny
Crew: Dave
Target Fish: Trout
Bait: Lures - Spinners 5g Celtas
Berley: None
Catch: 1 x Brown Trout
Report: Epic drive to get to this river. Had a lot of trouble finding access. All of the roads shown on the map are goat trails or private driveways. Access was via a very steep descent. Action was a little slow, I think this is a place where you need to put in a lot of time. Managed one little brown (released) on the walk back - it is always worth throwing a few casts on the walk back down the river. Had a little fish of the Hotbox River on the way home - no fish, but lots of potential.
